Clinical nursing

1. We call deterioration before the obs move: skin colour, breathing rhythm, how long they take to answer. The chart catches up half an hour later.

2. 'I don't like the look of him' is an accepted escalation on our ward. New grads don't know they're permitted to use it and sit on it for two hours.

3. You learn which registrars want to be called at the first sign and which want the full picture. I got it wrong twice in month one and it followed me for a year.
